The School Day

Each school day is designed to provide pupils with an opportunity and the necessary support to engage, learn, and grow.

Every pupil is provided with a broad and balanced curriculum that includes individualised elements, an extensive enrichment, personal development offer and focus through daily target setting/ reflection opportunities.

We encourage and enable parents and carers to support this through regular effective communication and interaction.

The school day (Mon- Thurs – 8.45am – 2.30pm, Fri – 8.45am – 1.30pm )

At Brookfield School, our timetable is designed to maximise learning while also valuing social time and personal development. Pupils experience a balanced mix of core subjects, social interaction, wider curriculum opportunities, and enrichment activities that support their broader growth.

Transport (home-school)

Our unique and highly effective transport offer was designed with pupils and families in mind and provides essential support, home school links and safe and informed provision for all pupils. Our staff provide this function using our fleet of school vehicles (which also serves as an excellent resource that significantly supports and enhances our curriculum). Clear expectations and boundaries are set and maintained beyond the school day via positive and consistent relationships with staff. Pupils arrive in school ready to learn.

Meal times

Pupils are provided with a healthy breakfast and lunch. Pupils and staff eat together which builds respect, develops relationships and provides a social interaction/engagement opportunity which cannot be achieved in a classroom setting. This shared experience fosters a sense of community and belonging, helping pupils recognise that they are valued members of the whole school.

Form time, social time and arrival and dismissal

These essential elements of the school day support transition and pupil development and provide necessary rest and recovery, reflection opportunities. They enable and support formal learning and contribute to a positive culture and environment.

They provide a time to reflect, share, and celebrate through routine, clear boundaries, and expectations.

“Our unique boy came to Brookfield with a history of school refusal, very low self-worth and confidence in himself and so afraid to pick up a pen and write that he would immediately shut down and disengage. Today we see him emerging from his cocoon and whilst life still has great challenges for him, we see him flourishing and stating regularly “I enjoyed learning about this.. I’m surprisingly good at that.” We feel we have our boy back and its all down to the general but firm, nurturing he receives.” Year 9 parent
