Parents and Carers will be notified via online communication or by telephone if school is closed following an emergency situation. As most pupils are transported by the LA transport department, this may be done initially through passenger assistants.
During the winter months, our priority is pupil safety. We monitor the weather forecast closely and if snow is forecast, our first priority is to ensure that access to the site and to school is safe, the drive is cleared and gritted. If conditions deteriorate during the school day or bad weather is forecast when students would be going home, we may have to close the school early. Exceptionally, we may have to decide in advance to delay the start or even close the school. We would always try to do this on the advice available, the evening before, so that pupils and parents know what is happening.
